India’s experienced doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, had to settle for the runners-up position in the Thailand Open Super 500 badminton tournament. In the final held today, the Indian pair was defeated by the duo of Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin with a score of 12–21, 23–25 points. Satwik-Chirag conceded defeat after fighting for 53 minutes against the Indonesian pair.
This was the first time this year that the Indian duo played in the final of a tournament. As a result of this defeat, Satwik-Chirag have now gone two years without winning a tournament title. They had previously won the Thailand Open title in May 2024. Although Satwik-Chirag surrendered easily in the first game of today’s final, they put up a tough fight in the second game.
