India’s star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has once again brought glory to the country. At the 2026 Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow, she won the gold medal in the women’s 48kg weight category.
This is Mirabai Chanu’s third consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, after 2018 (Gold Coast) and 2022 (Birmingham).
She set a new Games record by lifting 85kg in the ‘Snatch’ and 105kg in the ‘Clean and Jerk’, for a total of 190kg.
With this gold medal, India’s total medal tally at the 2026 Commonwealth Games has risen to three.
