The Government of India has announced significant progress in strengthening the country’s LPG ecosystem, marked by a sharp rise in digital adoption, enhanced enforcement, and stable supply across domestic and commercial segments, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said.
Online LPG bookings have reached approximately 98% across the industry, reflecting growing consumer trust and a shift towards informed purchasing behaviour. OTP-based delivery authentication has also expanded to 92%, improving transparency, convenience, and accountability in the distribution process.
As part of a coordinated nationwide enforcement drive initiated in March 2026, authorities have conducted over 1.28 lakh inspections and raids, resulting in the seizure of more than 59,000 LPG cylinders. These actions are aimed at curbing hoarding, black marketing, and diversion of domestic LPG.
The Ministry highlighted that domestic supply remains stable, with no dry-outs reported and over 51 lakh households receiving LPG cylinders in a single day. Distributors have also operated on Sundays to meet demand and ensure uninterrupted service.
In the commercial segment, supply has been restored across sectors such as food, polymer, and agriculture, with over 10 lakh non-domestic cylinders sold since March 23, supported by adequate crude inventories and efficient refinery operations.
