Dimapur Police Impose Temporary Drone Restrictions on Independence Day

Dimapur Police have declared temporary “Red Zones” or no-fly zones around three Independence Day celebration venues in Nagaland on August 15 as part of heightened security measures. The restriction covers a 2-kilometre radius around the DDSC Stadium in Dimapur, Chümoukedima Samaguting Stadium and Niuland Public Ground. In an order issued by Dimapur Commissioner of Police Aotula T. Imchen, the authorities have prohibited the operation of drones and remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs) within the designated areas from 2 am to 6 pm on August 15. No person will be permitted to operate a drone or RPA inside the notified Red Zones without prior approval from the competent authority. The restrictions have been introduced to prevent unauthorised aerial activity and strengthen security during Independence Day celebrations at the three venues. Residents, visitors and drone operators have been advised to comply with the order and avoid flying unmanned aircraft in the restricted areas during the specified period. The temporary no-fly zones will remain in force throughout the Independence Day programme, with exceptions only for those granted permission by the authorised authorities.
