Kohima Municipal Council and Atsikeh Trust Hold Health Camps on September 30 to Promote SDG 3

On September 30, 2026, dedicated free medical camps were successfully organized in Kohima and Kiphire to promote health and well-being among sanitation workers and government staff. In Kohima, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) spearheaded a dedicated medical camp under the Safaimitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir at the KMC office, specifically tailored for sanitation workers given the occupational health risks associated with handling waste. Facilitated by medical professionals and nurses from the Chief Medical Officer’s office, alongside teams from the Mobile Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre and the District Tuberculosis Centre, the camp provided vital healthcare access not only to the sanitation workers themselves but also to their dependents and family members, with the municipal body emphasizing its annual commitment to safeguarding their welfare. Simultaneously, in Kiphire, Akehda Amulung and the Atsikeh Trust joined hands to organize another comprehensive free medical camp at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, focusing on the health needs of the district administration staff. This camp offered essential basic health check-ups and diagnostic laboratory testing services, registering a total of 49 outpatient department consultations and 14 laboratory tests during the program. Longtili C. Sangtam, the founder of Akehda Amulung, noted that the initiative directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which champions good health and well-being, while affirming plans to expand community-based health interventions. Similarly, the founder of the Atsikeh Trust underscored the critical importance of making basic healthcare accessible, stating that proactive health awareness and early screenings facilitate the early detection of medical concerns. Both organizing bodies expressed deep gratitude to the local medical departments and the Kiphire DC Office for their active support, reflecting a collaborative community-driven approach toward fostering healthier and more resilient workforces across Nagaland through targeted medical outreach programs that prioritize vulnerable and essential public service personnel.
