An Assam Rifles personnel was killed after a patrol team came under attack along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the incident occurred at around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, where Assam Rifles personnel were conducting a routine patrol in an area where border fencing work is currently underway.
Preliminary reports suggest that the attack was carried out by suspected cadres of the NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction), though official confirmation is awaited.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Havildar Jankhokai Kuki (42).
Following the attack, security forces launched search and area domination operations to track down the attackers and secure the border region. Additional forces have been deployed, and security agencies have heightened surveillance in and around the area.
The incident comes amid increased security measures and ongoing fencing work along the India-Myanmar border, aimed at strengthening border management and preventing cross-border movement by insurgent groups.
Officials said further details regarding the circumstances of the attack and the ongoing operation are awaited.
