In a swift operation aimed at curbing illegal border crossings, Assam security forces apprehended 20 individuals identified as illegal immigrants. Following the apprehension, the individuals were promptly “pushed back” across the international border into Bangladesh. The operation highlights the heightened vigilance of the state’s border police and security agencies, who have been conducting intensified patrols along sensitive stretches of the Indo-Bangladesh border to prevent unauthorized entry.
The push-back protocol was carried out after the necessary identification and verification processes were completed by the local authorities. This incident is part of a broader, ongoing effort by the Assam government to address concerns regarding illegal migration and maintain the demographic security of the region. Officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a strict vigil at the border, utilizing both manual patrolling and technological surveillance to monitor porous areas and deter further infiltration attempts.
