Iga Swiatek, the fourth seed, entered the women’s singles semi-finals of the Italian Open tennis tournament by easily defeating Jessica Pegula. In today’s quarter-final, Swiatek defeated Pegula 6-1, 6-2. Third seed Coco Gauff also crossed the quarter-final hurdle, despite facing a slight challenge. She defeated Mirra Andreeva 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
In the semi-finals, Gauff will face Swiatek. In another quarter-final, [Elena] Rybakina defeated Jelena Ostapenko 6-1, 7-6. In the men’s section, Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev have entered the quarter-finals. In the pre-quarterfinals, top seed Sinner defeated Andrea Pellegrino 6-2, 6-3, and seventh seed Medvedev defeated Thiago Agustín Tirante 6-3, 6-2.
