India’s top-ranked doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have entered the semifinals of the Thailand Open Badminton tournament. The Indian pair secured victory after putting up a dominant performance against Japan’s duo Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami. In the quarterfinals, the Satwik-Chirag pair defeated their Japanese opponents by 21-12, 21-13 points.
Meanwhile, India’s P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen suffered defeats in the women’s and men’s singles quarterfinals, respectively. In the women’s category, despite winning the first game against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, Sindhu eventually conceded defeat. The double Olympic medalist player was defeated by 21-19, 18-21, 15-21 points. In the men’s quarterfinals, Lakshya Sen was defeated by Kunlavut Vitidsarn by 19-21, 16-21 points.
