Mizoram Students Seek Transparency, Better Recruitment System

Hundreds of students affiliated with the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) staged a demonstration outside the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) office in Aizawl on Monday, demanding reforms in the commission’s administrative and recruitment processes. The protesters picketed the office and prevented officials and staff from entering the premises. The demonstration was largely peaceful, although a brief scuffle occurred between students and police when some MPSC officials attempted to enter the office. The MZP has called for structural reforms and additional manpower to improve the commission’s efficiency, transparency and credibility. The student organisation alleged that repeated shortcomings in the recruitment process had affected candidates and weakened public confidence in the commission.

One of the major concerns raised was the One Time Registration (OTR) system. The MZP alleged that several applicants faced difficulties while uploading documents through the portal. It further claimed that some candidates who had qualified in written examinations were later disqualified because of incomplete documentation submitted through the OTR system. The students are seeking measures to address these issues and ensure a more efficient and transparent recruitment process. Their demands come amid growing calls for administrative improvements to make public service recruitment more accessible and reliable for candidates across Mizoram.
