The Dolabari Gaon Panchayat Office in Tezpur hosted a free eye screening and cataract detection camp. The Lions Club of Tezpur Greater actively supported the project, and the Dolabari Gaon Panchayat cooperated with the Marwari Yuva Manch Tezpur Jagriti Branch and Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Tezpur. In collaboration with Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, the camp was organized. Over the course of the camp, 128 people had eye exams, and 37 incidences of cataracts were found.
In order to help these patients, plans have been developed for Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital to provide free surgery on September 1. All beneficiaries will receive free transportation, surgery, and post-operative care, according to the organizers. The endeavor demonstrated a robust community collaboration with the goal of providing rural residents with easily accessible eye care and raising awareness of avoidable blindness.
