Assam Cabinet Minister Atul Bora has been officially given the additional charge of the Parliamentary Affairs Department as part of an interim governance arrangement. According to an official notification, the Governor of Assam made the appointment based on the advice of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Bora, who is a prominent leader within the ruling alliance’s cabinet, already manages several crucial portfolios, including Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of the Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and the Excise Department.
This strategic reallocation comes immediately ahead of the first sitting of the newly constituted Assam Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to commence for a four-day session running until May 26. Alongside Bora’s interim appointment, a few other ministers—including Rameswar Teli, Ajanta Neog, and Charan Boro—have also been inducted into the cabinet. Chief Minister Sarma had previously indicated that a more comprehensive cabinet expansion would be formally executed after the conclusion of this initial legislative session.
