India has made a brilliant start in the ongoing Shooting World Cup in Granada, Spain. Palak and Mukesh Nelavalli made India proud by winning the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup. The duo set a new world record with a combined score of 487.7 points, with Palak scoring 243.0 and Mukesh scoring 244.7. This achievement is also a junior world record. China’s Qianxun Yao and Kai Hu took the silver medal with 484.8 points, while Hungary’s Veronika Major and Akos Karoly Nagy settled for bronze with 414.9 points. Palak, 18, has been on a roll, having won individual gold and team silver at the 2023 Asian Games, securing a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mukesh, a junior world champion, is also making waves in Indian pistol shooting.
