Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a mid-season change to their squad due to David Payne’s ankle injury. SRH have roped in South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for the English left-arm pacer for the remainder of the season.
According to an IPL media advisory, Coetzee’s name was announced ahead of the home game against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. The right-arm pacer has been signed for ₹2 crore.
Payne picked up two wickets in two matches this season. Coetzee, meanwhile, has played 14 Tests, 14 ODIs, and 18 T20Is for South Africa, claiming a total of 67 wickets in international cricket.
In the IPL, Coetzee has featured in four matches so far. He represented Mumbai Indians in 2024 and Gujarat Titans in 2025, taking a combined 15 wickets across the two seasons.
