Dimapur Sammelan Focuses on Rural Jobs, Infrastructure and Transparency

A District-Level Panch Sammelan on the newly enacted Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB G RAM G) was held at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur, on August 13, bringing together village functionaries and officials from Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts. The programme focused on raising awareness and preparing stakeholders for effective implementation of the rural employment and livelihood mission, which replaces MGNREGA. DRDA Dimapur Project Director Limameren Yaden stressed the importance of grassroots participation and coordination in advancing the Viksit Bharat–2047 vision. A technical presentation highlighted the scheme’s focus on guaranteed wage employment and durable community assets related to water security, infrastructure, livelihoods and climate mitigation. Technology-driven measures such as biometric authentication, e-KYC, real-time MIS, AI-based monitoring and GPS tracking were also discussed to improve transparency and efficiency. Officials further briefed participants on the 16th Finance Commission, solid waste management, asset maintenance, Aadhaar verification and timely registration of work demand. They emphasised the proper use of grants to strengthen rural infrastructure, sanitation and water management while encouraging active participation by Village Councils and Gram Panchayats. The session concluded with a call for coordinated efforts among officials, elected representatives and village-level stakeholders to ensure transparent and effective implementation of the mission.
