Jannik Sinner is moving smoothly towards a potential Madrid Open title with another easy victory. The world number one secured his place in the quarterfinals by defeating Cameron Norrie with a score of 6-2, 7-5.
Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud have also confirmed their spots in the quarterfinals. Ruud overcame a stiff challenge to defeat Tsitsipas 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, while Zverev defeated Jakub Mensik 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Major Upsets in the Women’s Category . The women’s draw saw two massive upsets on the same day. Top-ranked stars Aryna Sabalenka and second seed Elena Rybakina have both crashed out before the semifinals. Hailey Baptiste (ranked 30th) defeated Sabalenka in a hard-fought match: 2-6, 6-2, 7-6. Unseeded Anastasia Potapova knocked out Rybakina with a score of 7-6, 6-4. Amidst these major exits, Mirra Andreeva entered the semifinals by defeating unseeded Leylah Fernandez 7-6, 6-3.
