Former Afghanistan cricketer Shapoor Zadran is undergoing treatment in a hospital after being attacked by a rare disease. One of the leading fast bowlers of Afghanistan cricket, Zadran had somehow survived a terrorist attack in war-torn Afghanistan ten years ago.
At just 38 years of age, the left-arm pacer is now battling for his life in a hospital due to Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) disease. He was brought to Delhi in January this year and admitted to the ICU of a hospital here.
The 6 ft 2 inch tall fast bowler has reportedly reached the fourth stage of HLH disease. In this disease, the body’s immune system becomes overactive. As a result, it starts damaging various organs, including bones and blood cells.
Zadran’s white blood cell count has dropped dangerously low. Cricket fans from India and abroad are praying for his recovery.
