N. Biren Singh, former Chief Minister and BJP leader, today launched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book Emergency Diaries at Thambal Shanglen in Imphal. Speaking at the book launch, the Chief Minister recounted that during the 1975 Emergency, ten Manipur residents had been arrested and imprisoned. Also, h e emphasized the need of identifying and repairing past injustices, saying, “If we do not right the wrongs of the past, we will be unable to build a clean and just future.” A fresh and upright generation can only arise if previous wrongdoings are rectified.
Party leaders, educators, and members of the public came to discuss the consequences of the Emergency and the significance of upholding democratic norms.
