Ending a 25-year-long wait, Coventry City have made their return to the English Premier League. The team had been relegated from the Premier League after a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on May 5, 2001. Misfortune did not leave the club there. After 11 years in the Championship [First Division], they were relegated to the second division in the 2012 season. In 2017, they suffered another relegation to the third division. From such dire circumstances, they have now climbed back to the Championship.
Last night, Coventry City secured promotion to the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers. At the heart of this remarkable comeback was the coaching of former England star Frank Lampard. After taking charge of the team, Lampard built Coventry City into an unstoppable force.
