Rath Yatra 2025: A significant number of people have gathered to participate in the Jagannath Rath Yatra, as the yearly festival is scheduled to commence on Friday in Puri. District Magistrate Siddharth Swain and Superintendent of Police Vineet Agarwal provided updates regarding the preparations aimed at ensuring a secure and well-organized event.
Today, the Rath Yatra of Mahaprabhu is scheduled to occur. A large number of devotees will assemble in Puri. The police have made sufficient arrangements. All necessary measures for public safety, crowd control, and convenience have been implemented. Traffic management has been addressed. Additionally, central agencies have provided support… The Rath Yatra is expected to proceed without any issues. Our surveillance teams will be stationed at the integrated control room. We also have teams dedicated to countering drones. They successfully neutralized three drones today. Except for authorized drones, any other drone activity will be dealt with accordingly,” stated Puri SP Vineet Agarwal.
Rath Yatra 2025: Enhanced security measures implemented in Puri
Considering the significant number of attendees, Odisha DGP Y B Khurania stated that comprehensive security measures have been implemented for the event. Both civil and police authorities are on high alert as hundreds of thousands of devotees are expected to attend the annual event under stringent security. More than 275 AI-powered CCTV cameras have been set up throughout Puri and along the route to Konark, which is located 35 kilometers away and renowned for its 13th-century Sun Temple, to ensure effective surveillance. Additionally, the DGP mentioned that National Security Guard snipers will be positioned on rooftops along Grand Road in front of the temple.
