Rashid Khan Hints at Test Retirement: ‘Playing Longer Formats is Difficult for Me

The days of seeing star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan playing Test cricket for his country may be coming to an end. The Afghan cricket star has hinted at retiring from “red-ball” cricket. Yesterday, in the match against Delhi Capitals, Rashid played a significant role in Gujarat Titans’ victory. After the match, he spoke out regarding his international career.
According to Rashid, playing long-format cricket has become difficult for him. He said: “I have been thinking about retiring from red-ball cricket. Playing longer formats is now difficult for me. Even doctors have advised me to stay away from the long format.” It is noteworthy that Afghanistan is scheduled to play a Test match against India this coming June. However, Rashid might not be part of that match. Following a back surgery, Rashid has become cautious about playing Tests, and doctors have also warned him accordingly.
