FIFA President Infantino’s Clear Message: Iran Must Play in America

Despite threats of boycotting America, there is no escape for Iran. In the upcoming World Cup, Iran must play all its matches in the “enemy nation.” This was made clear today by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Rejecting Iran’s request, the President stated that the application submitted by Iran to move their matches from America has been turned down. Iran will have to play according to the previously decided schedule.
Notably, on Tuesday, Iran participated in a friendly match against Costa Rica in Antalya, Turkey. The FIFA President was present at this match. Following the game, he held discussions with officials of the Iranian Football Federation. After the meeting, Infantino announced that Iran’s matches would indeed take place in America.
However, Iran has not yet expressed any reaction to this development. Iran had previously stated that they would not boycott the World Cup, yet they currently remain firm on their decision not to play in an enemy country. Iran will take its final decision based on the atmosphere created by the war in the coming days.
