Assam govt disburses Rs 150 cr as interim flood relief so far, says CM

The Assam government has so far disbursed around Rs 150 crore disb as interim relief to the flood- affected people.
This was disclosed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He said that 75 per cent damage assessment  has been completed and over 1,000 surveyors on ground to finish the remaining assessment work expeditiously.
Sarma said that 793 schools are under repair and will be ready for classes to resume, while roads and public infrastructure being rebuilt on priority.
He informed that high capacity pumps are running round the clock to dewater low-lying areas of Sivasagar and health camps are being scaled up, with close monitoring for any disease outbreak.
The Chief Minister urged all eligible people to file loan relief and insurance claims by August 30.
“We are mapping compensation and benefits to reach every household. My instructions to officials are clear: no one gets left behind, speed is non-negotiable, and there’s zero tolerance for a lackadaisical approach,” he said.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been affected and over 100 people lost their lives in the devastating floods in Assam this year.
