President Ramchandra Paudel has urged the Japanese private sector to explore trade and investment opportunities in Nepal, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing a supportive and investor-friendly environment.
Addressing an interaction with members of the Japanese business community in Tokyo on Monday, President Paudel said Nepal is keen to build close partnerships with Japanese companies. The meeting was organised to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
The President assured investors of policy stability, smooth procedures for profit and capital repatriation, and full government support for foreign investment. He said Nepal has maintained a stable macroeconomic environment and offers attractive returns to investors.
Calling the milestone anniversary an opportune moment to deepen cooperation, President Paudel highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries, rooted in cultural and philosophical ties inspired by Gautam Buddha.
He encouraged Japanese investors to invest with confidence, particularly in priority sectors such as agriculture, hydropower, tourism, information technology and manufacturing, noting that such investments would bring mutual benefits.
President Paudel also acknowledged Japan’s longstanding role as a reliable development partner in Nepal’s socio-economic progress. He said Nepal is focused on achieving good governance, political stability and prosperity, and is preparing to graduate from the Least Developed Country category by the end of this year, with a goal of becoming a middle-income country by 2030.
He added that Nepal’s strategic location between India and China offers significant advantages for investors. Members of the Japanese business community expressed optimism about investment prospects in Nepal and welcomed the opportunities presented.
