To date, numerous leaks regarding the iPhone 17 series, anticipated to be released in September within a few months, have emerged. Concurrently, a variety of reports have also shed light on what the subsequent generation of iPhones, specifically the iPhone 18 series, may entail. Notably, information regarding the display of the iPhone 18 series has surfaced, providing insights into potential features, such as a more compact Dynamic Island and additional enhancements. Consequently, the design of the iPhone’s front may begin to bear similarities to that of Android devices. Here is a glimpse of what the future may hold.
Three-Stage Transformation on the Horizon
According to Analyst In a series of announcements, display analyst and well-known Apple insider Ross Young stated on X that Apple may implement its Dynamic Island cutout and overall display transformation in three distinct phases. In 2026, he anticipates the introduction of a smaller notch, as certain under-display Face ID components will still reside within the notch, remaining opaque beneath the panel. By 2028, he predicts that all Face ID components will be integrated beneath the panel, leaving only the selfie camera exposed – eliminating the notch entirely. Finally, in 2030, he asserts that the iPhone’s selfie camera will also be positioned beneath the display, resulting in the absence of any punch-hole or notch, thereby achieving a completely seamless, all-display appearance.
What are our thoughts? Apple has maintained the same size for the Dynamic Island since the iPhone 14 Pro. Now, as we enter the iPhone 16 generation, the Dynamic Island appears unchanged, retaining the same dimensions. Therefore, it is reasonable for users to anticipate a significant design update from Apple, given the considerable time that has passed.
